I am a city kid tried and true but a nature girl at heart. Having grown up in Queens, nature was either perfectly contained, like the manicured lawns or completely disregarded, like the patches of scraggy weeds in vacant parking lots. It wasn’t until I began to travel abroad and study art that I developed an appreciation of the natural world.

After graduating in the fine arts at Cooper Union in 1993, I went on to pursued my artistic career in New York while working in galleries and as an artist and architect assistant. At the time my artwork included sculptures, installations and works on paper.

By the mid nineties, through a fateful and circuitous turn of events I found myself working in a boutique flower shop creating bouquets and flower arrangements. My eye’s opened to a whole new way of making art. I ultimately started to create ephemeral installations outside using botanicals and photographing the results.

Working with flowers allows for instant gratification. I approach flower arranging the same way I would any art form. Color, scale, form and texture - All of these elements come into play when creating arrangements. Whether I am designing the perfect bouquet or photographing a still life, flowers never cease to delight and inspire me.
