Transitioning from Summer to Fall

This week as we transition from Summer to Fall, I wanted to share some updates from the past few weeks. Mid-August, I took a two week vacation to spend time with my family away from the city. It was a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of the studio, flower market, and every day New York City life.

We spent most of our time in a cottage by the sea in Maine as well as travelled to Massachusetts and New York’s Catskill mountains. I loved spending time in the quaint town of Marblehead. MA with good friends watching the eclipse.  A cross state drive through the Berkshire Mountains brought us to the town of North Adams were we visited the amazing Mass Moca.

We also visited the Harvard Museum of Natural History in Cambridge to see The Ware Collection of Blaschka Glass Models of Plants. These 100 year old hand made glass flower specimens are truly unbelievable!  Everything is so life like, delicate, and intricate. It was the perfect stop for inspiration before heading back to the studio.

After traveling, I jumped right back into the studio, designing with my team for our clients. We had a number of weddings at some of our favorite event venues in our area including the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Tribeca Rooftop, The Highlight Hotel, and Blue Hill at Stone Barns.

And now Fall is finally here! We're excited to start working with textural materials that autumn’s bounty brings by incorporating sunburnt foliage, bittersweet vines, crab apples, pomegranates, and persimmons. This time also means that Bridal Week is around the corner as we respond to the new fashion collections with exquisite bouquets.

In the flower world we are always thinking ahead to the next season as we start to plan for the holidays. This year we will be hosting fun classes and a holiday pop-up store in our studio. Stay tuned for more details.
